Day in a Life | Fall Winter ‘22 Fashion Campaign shoot with hot pink and luxurious black
I can’t even begin to describe how much joy I get from capturing a new fashion collection. First of all, the sneakpeak… I mean, I know I’ll have to be patiently waiting before I can share the photo’s as well but it’s always nice to see what’s coming next fashion season! I had the honour to capture C by Stories’ Fall Winter ‘22 Campaign with two beautiful models (left: Joy Rennecke, right: Laura ter Schure).
As few of you might know is that you’ll rarely see me wearing black. When doing so I just don’t feel like myself. Therefore, you’d understand my excitement when I saw that this collection contained a LOT of colour. But, what surprised me most, is that I actually liked the black pieces! The luxurious bouclé of the black womens blazer was just breathtaking! As a fashion photographer I’m all for the details and all these female dresses, tops and blazers had plenty. I loved capturing them all so much!
We started around 9 AM and went to a daylight studio in the city of Utrecht. When arriving we had a small talk and greet with the team for the day. After that, the models went into hair and make-up and I prepared for the shoot. I set up the external lighting and umbrella, prepared the camera, checked with the client what their expectations and ideas were, did some test shots and inspected every corner of the studio. When finished, I always like to go back to the model to make another small chat. Since we’ll be working together to create some magic, I find in extremely important to take some time to get to know each other a bit. I showed her my ideas and asked if she felt okay with it. Always check in with your model if she’s comfortable! Besides the fact It’ll show on the photo when they aren’t it is also not a nice environment for them to work in.
When everyone was ready we started shooting! We started with some daytime shots and went through all the outfits super fast! We got multiple sets and looks on both models and I made sure that the clothing was captured in the most flattering way. We did a few nice fashion model poses like the hands on the hips to show the beautiful sleeves, playing with the belt and making big steps for some extra movement. It adds so much dimension to the photo and shows the potential customer how the clothes fit on the model.
Since some of the clothes also were ideal for a party campaign, we ended the day with some cool party shots! And I have to admit that those photo’s are one of my favourite to take. Although I adore working with daylight, there is just something about hard flashes that my eyes just LOVE. The hallway turned out to be the perfect location for that!
After a long day of shooting we were done and all very happy with the results! Can’t wait to find out what my next fashion campaign will be…
I’ll see you guys soon.
Love,
Vivian
